Cool guide on how to score Airline vouchers.
clipped from www.dumblittleman.com

Airlines like money and it turns out that the best way for airlines to make money is to ensure that there are as few empty seats on a plane as possible.

When a person doesn’t show up for a flight, the seat is left empty and an empty seat is a lost opportunity for revenue. As a result of this conundrum, airlines employ fancy statisticians to figure out how many seats the airline needs to overbook just to make up for the no-shows.

Unfortunately, those statisticians aren’t fortune tellers and sometimes (ok, a lot of times), their figures are off. When the figures are off, it’s still a better deal for the airline to give you a $300 travel voucher than it is to risk letting a seat fly empty.

Interesting Story on Flying without an ID!

Here’s an interesting story about flying on the airplane without an ID.  I guess you do need an ID for flying but in case you lose your wallet or whatnot, you might want to consider reading this story to find out what happens.

I last saw my wallet on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the FedEx counter in Cambridge, where I dropped it into the envelope marked “Las Vegas, Nevada.” On Wednesday around 4PM, I arrived at Boston Logan airport without my wallet.

Without an ID, JetBlue’s All Services line was my only hope for checking bags. The long line moved interminably slowly. A JetBlue representative with long blonde hair moved down the line, talking to
each passenger.

New Airline Seats will Help your Idiot Passenger from Drooling on you!

The worst airline travelers are the ones who don’t even know what they are doing wrong and have no basic manners such as drooling on the next person’s shoulder.

It’s a good thing that airliners are starting to experiment with these new seats to prevent all that bad stuff from happening.

With airlines wringing money out of passengers like water from rain-soaked wool socks, it was most encouraging to stumble upon Delta’s plan to create new, more commodious airplane seats for coach class.

Cash for Bumped Flights

It seems like nowdays you can request “cash” for the airline messing up your seats and “bumping” you to another flight.  This is great news since I have been bumped from my flight before and the flight attendants were being assholes/bitches.

If you’re bumped, you can insist on a refund of up to $400 if your alternative domestic flight puts you behind between 1 and 2 hours. Beyond that, you can request a refund up to $800. For international flights, the $400 threshold is if you’re delayed between 1 and 4 hours, with delays beyond that eligible for a $800 refund.
