Here’s a surfer paradise in Mozambique, Africa.

Mozambique is a paradise for surfers who crave adventure, with dirt roads, tropical to subtropical climate, wildlife and the thrill of surfing uncrowded epic breaks. It is located on the south east coast of Africa and is best known for its magnificent beaches, abundant seafood, spectacular diving and waves going off everywhere!

The Mozambique locals speak Portuguese and are always smiling, welcoming and friendly. This surprised me because it is a third world country which was devastated by war and floods. Malaria is an ongoing epidemic (make sure you take anti malaria medication). Happiness surrounded by such poverty is humbling; it opens ones mind to new ways of thinking, perceiving and accepting.

Elephants in Africa

Make sure to bring some food for elephants when you go to Africa. I am still afraid of going due to all the “diseases” out there.

Elephant 1

This sequence of photographs was sent to me by a friend in South Africa. Elephants are a familiar sight around some of the regions more remote bush camps and park rest camps. Like black bears they are attracted by the availability of food, in particular fruit and vegetables, but unlike black bears slinging your tucker in a tree is a waste of time…

Road of Death in Bolivia!

I’ve had some weird dreams in my youngster years where I would be driving on a scary, narrow road similar to this road of death in Bolivia.

Of course, this would be one of the places avoid when traveling.  Heck, I don’t even have the nerve to travel Africa yet.

The Road of Death, properly known as the North Yungas Road, is the only road connecting several small villages in the Yungas region of Bolivia to the rest of LaPaz and the outside world. In Spanish, the road is known as El Camino de la Muerta (the Road of Death).

5 Things to do before traveling to Africa

Here’s some great tips on things to do before traveling to Africa.

Few destinations in the world strike fear in the hearts and minds of concerned parents quite like Africa. (Don’t worry Mom - I’m staying safe, wearing clean underwear and not talking to strangers!)

But, the continent is arguably one of the best places on the planet for adventure travelers, especially if you’re easily jaded by the commercialization of the global tourist trail. After all, Africa certainly isn’t for wet behind the ears beginners, but it needn’t be the sole reserve of leather-skinned veterans.
