Here’s a grass-less golf course in Australia, taking Golf to “another level”.
Despite being in the middle of the desert, the people of Coober Peady haven’t let that get in the way of getting in a round of golf. Coober Peady is home to an 18 hole golf course. What makes it different is the total lack of grass. There isn’t a blade of grass within hundreds of kilometers of Coober Peady. If you look closely you’ll notice under the sign that the ball is orange and there is a small square of artificial turf. The ground rules for the course allow for putting the square of turf under the ball for each stroke not on the “green”, so you don’t hit a rock when taking a swing. The “green”, you can see in the background, is really “black” and is sand..

Here’s a good list of things to do and visit while you are in Australia.
Home to one of the most diverse variety of plants and animals on earth, the Daintree Rainforest is an epic destination north of Cairns in Tropical Far North Queensland. There’s plenty to do in this world heritage listed rainforest, including bushwalks, early morning river cruises, 4WD tours and crocodile-spotting expeditions.

Here’s Purnululu National Park of Australia in case you want to pay a visit.
| Purnululu National Park is a World Heritage Site in Western Australia, 2054 km northeast of Perth. The nearest major town is Kununurra to the north, or Halls Creek to the south. Access to the park by road is via Spring Creek Track, from the Great Northern Highway approximately 250 km south of Kununurra, to the track’s end at the visitor centre. The track is 53 km long and is usable only in the dry season (about April 1 to December 31), and only by four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles. Safely navigating it takes approximately 3 hours. Access by air is less demanding; helicopter flights are available, from Turkey Creek Roadhouse at Warmun, 187 km
south of Kununurra, and light aircraft, from Kununurra.

Here’s a couple interesting facts about New Zealand.
1. While it is no longer the case, New Zealand was once governed as a part of the territory of New South Wales (later a part of Australia). When Australia federated in 1901, New Zealand was offered a place as one of their states. New Zealand refused and is its own country with no ties (other than economic and commonwealth) to Australia.
2. A kiwi is not a fruit - it is New Zealand’s native flightless bird (pictured above) and a slang term for a New Zealander. Kiwis call the fruit “kiwifruit” - they are also known as Chinese Gooseberries.
3. New Zealand was the first major nation to have universal suffrage. In 1893 it became legal for all male and female citizens of New Zealand to vote.
4. New Zealand was first discovered by Europeans in 1642 when Dutch sailor Abel Tasman arrived. He left New Zealand after several of his crew were killed by Maoris, and it was not until 1769 that English Captain James Cook arrived and mapped the land.

Cool mountains in Australia but I need to visit Sydney first.
The Hamersley Range is a mountainous region of the Pilbara, Western Australia. The range runs from the Fortescue River in the northeast, 460km south. The range contains Western Australia’s highest point, Mount Meharry, which reaches approximately 1,249 m AHD. There are many extensively-eroded gorges, such as Wittenoom Gorge. |
Karijini National Park (formerly Hamersley National Park), one of Australia’s largest National Parks, is centred in the range.
The range contains large deposits of iron ore, the source of a large amount of Australia’s iron. Western Australia’s major iron producers have mines, communities and railways that occur along the range.
