Well, for those of you coming from other countries or other parts of America, you need to know that it’s a common courtesy to tip Vegas drivers well. (or any other metropolitan Taxi drivers)

Unlike restaurants, you need to tip them at least a dollar if you want to give them a tip.

If you are going to give 30 cents, you will probably get a Devil’s receipt like this guy. If you are going to do that, you might as well not tip at all.

During a visit to Las Vegas last year my cab driver was in a pissy mood.  I
asked him why and he said his last fare gave him a 30 cent tip on a
$9.70 meter to make an even $10 and then asked for a receipt.  So he
wrote her a receipt.  On a napkin.  With a frowning devil face. He said she
threw it back at him.  He cheered up a bit after I asked if I could
take a picture of it:

kayakI know I could have put this article in with my usual Sunday news snippets post, but I couldn’t resist giving it its own headline - partly because I love the moxie of the couple in the story, and partly because I wanted to make sure you all saw the article!

Here’s a great guide on how to enjoy Oktoberfest if it’s your first time.
clipped from matadornights.com

You race a mob of lads in leather shorts to find a seat in the packed, wooden tent. A busty barmaid whams down an enormous glass of beer. You drink to the cry of Prost! and get ready to do it again. Then you stroll outside and jump on the roller-coaster.
You’re pushed, pulled, stretched and slammed and decide this would have been a better idea before the beer!
Feeling hungry now? Nothing a plate of pork knuckles wouldn’t fix. Easy to fill your belly here, if you’ve got the coin for it. The sun goes down and you head back inside.
You start swinging your drink and singing along to the sound of oom-pah music. Soon you’re dancing on the benches with a dozen friendly locals.
