World\'s Largest Suspension Bridge in Japan!

Next time you are in Japan, make sure to check out the World’s Largest Suspension Bridge.

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, also known in Japan as the Pearl Bridge, has a record main span of 1,991 meters. By comparison, the bridge is 366 meters (almost ¼ mile) longer than the previous record holder, the StoreBaelt (East Bridge) in Denmark, which was also opened in 1998. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is also 580 meters longer than the Humber Bridge in England, constructed in 1981; 692 meters longer than the longest suspension bridge in the United States, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York, built in 1964; and 710 meters longer than the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, constructed in 1937.

It cost an estimated 500 billion Japanese yen (U.S. $3.6 billion) to build the bridge. Construction began in 1988 and involved more than 100 contractors.

Jeju Island is Hawaii for South Korea!

Jeju Island is located off the southern coast of Korea.  It’s right in-between Japan and Korea.  Most people refer to Jeju Island as Hawaii for South Korea.

You can expect a lot of fun here including submarine riding, cave touring, waterfalls, horse riding, etc…etc…

I remember going here about 20 years ago and it was one of the nicest islands I’ve been to.  Next time you are headed to Korea, make sure to book couple nights here.

Jeju Island, also known as the “Island of the Gods,” is a popular vacation spot for Koreans and many Japanese. It remains one of the top honeymoon destinations for Korean newlyweds. The island’s mixture of volcanic rock, frequent rains, and temperate climate, make it very similar to the Hawaiian Islands in the U.S. The island offers visitors a wide range of activities: hiking on Halla-san (South Korea’s highest peak), catching sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, viewing majestic waterfalls, riding horses, or just lying around on the sandy beaches.

Monorails of Japan

Monorails of Japan

Check out these cool Monorails of Japan in Chiba City. I’m thinking about travel to Japan some next year, I should try these cool Monorails. Hopefully, I would be see all the City’s view.

The Chiba City “Town liner” is currently the longest suspended monorail system in the world, and it is getting longer. Since it opened, the system has never stopped getting bigger. Long term plans are for the monorail to be over 40 km in length, and this will most likely be surpassed. Building upon the knowledge and experience of the Shonan Monorail, the Mitsubishi Company built this dual-tracked system to connect suburbs in the Chiba Prefecture with Chiba’s main rail station downtown.
