Here’s a grass-less golf course in Australia, taking Golf to “another level”.
| Despite being in the middle of the desert, the people of Coober Peady haven’t let that get in the way of getting in a round of golf. Coober Peady is home to an 18 hole golf course. What makes it different is the total lack of grass. There isn’t a blade of grass within hundreds of kilometers of Coober Peady. If you look closely you’ll notice under the sign that the ball is orange and there is a small square of artificial turf. The ground rules for the course allow for putting the square of turf under the ball for each stroke not on the “green”, so you don’t hit a rock when taking a swing. The “green”, you can see in the background, is really “black” and is sand.. |

Here’s a great salt mine worth visiting in Poland.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is known as “the underground cathedral of Poland.” This mine dating back to the 13th century stretches over 300 kilometers below ground and you can visit it while in Poland. The Salt Mine is a major tourist destination near Krakow, and visitors are attracted here by a 3.5km long tour which takes in statues of historic and mythic figures as well as soaring rock salt halls and pits. |

Here’s some crazy waves you might NOT want to surf on due to all the dirt acccumulated in it.
The pororoca is a tidal bore, with waves up to 4 meters high that travel as much as 13 kilometers inland upstream on the Amazon River. Its name comes from the indigenous Tupi language, where it translates into “great destructive noise”. It occurs at the mouth of the river where river water meets the Atlantic Ocean. The phenomenon is best seen in February and March. |
