Here’s an interesting look into slow train in Cambodia. But one thing I should note is that you can ride on the roof, how cool is that?

Cambodia train roof
The train from Battambang to Phnom Penh used to run three times a week, but these days goes just once on Sunday. We took a taxi 150 km for the privilege.
When the lady changing money outside the station (who gave me an unbelievably fair rate) needed more Rial, she picked up her cell phone, and within one minute three dudes swooped in on motorbikes from separate directions and handed her huge wads of cash.
$1 is worth roughly 4000 Rial, and the biggest bill is the 10,000 note, so your pockets fill up quickly. In exchange for a guaranteed seat, foreigners are charged roughly 5x the normal rate. Even so, it was only $6.

Thailand has been touted as one of the best places for filming movies, here’s some great information on that.
clipped from www.tatnews.org
Thai cinema may not be the best known in the world, but Thailand is certainly gaining fame as a country in which to make films. It has countless, hugely varied locations, a wide range of accommodation, well equipped studios, knowledgeable and hard-working crews, a welcoming culture, an attuned administrative infrastructure and represents excellent value for money. Little wonder then that film-makers from around the world are zeroing in on Amazing Thailand as one of the places to make films.

Here’s some definitely interesting souvenirs you should consider bringing back from Greece.
clipped from www.greecelogue.com

Another item which is better left on the shelves! Seriously, you can buy caps at home and I doubt you would wear your Greek cap everywhere…that’s unless you are a serious athlete and train a lot and you might actually find something useful to do with it. But still, the money can be used for something totally different.

Airlines are charging ridiculous amounts of money for carrying your surfboards. At $300, you’d probably better off buying a new one or at least rent one.
clipped from www.worldhum.com
imageSurfers are being gouged by many airlines when they travel with their boards, and, rightfully, they’re pissed. “The charges have gotten so gnarly that some professional surfers are calling for a boycott of airlines that have high fees and are putting out their own personal lists of surfer-friendly carriers that wave riders should patronize,” writes Peter Pae in the Los Angeles Times. Among the airlines surfers are calling out: Delta, Continental and United. Each charges a minimum of $115 for domestic flights, and up to $300 for international trips.

Here’s some more cool info on Chiang Mai, Thailand. I heard the smog is getting really bad in that area though.
clipped from www.nomadicmatt.com
Chiang MaiChiang Mai is Thailand’s northern version of Bangkok. It’s the second largest city in Thailand and is the gateway to the jungles and cities of the north. Once a quiet little village, the city has morphed in the last ten years into a major business and tourist center. Large amounts of westerners began flocking here for jungle treks and a quite mountain setting but the crowds kept increasing and with it the locals flocking to make money off them. Chiang Mai now has a population of 500,000.
