Capsule Hotel in Japan
1 Comment Published by max June 5th, 2007 in Hotels, Travel Asia, Travel Info.
Okay, you’ve tried the Pipe Hotel and Cave Hotel. Here’s Capsule Hotel that gives you just enough room to sleep. You can experience the sci-fi movies by spending couple nights here. (although I wouldn’t sleep there myself; it does feel like a “morgue”…)
A typical Capsule Hotel is composed of two major sections; a public lounge space including bathing, and the other is a private space where the sleeping rooms (capsules) are arranged. The actual sleeping room is a capsule unit made of reinforced plastic and designed in the image of a jet airplane’s cockpit. In the capsule unit, all the required amenities are provided; TV, radio, alarm clock, adjustable lighting… almost everything is provided! Every device is within your reach and you can control everything in a sleeping position.

Most of Japan’s major cities offer efficient public transportation networks, and are connected with each other by the shinkansen, the Japanese bullet train.
Japan’s main island Honshu is covered by a network of high speed train lines that connect Tokyo with most of the island’s major cities and Fukuoka on the island of Kyushu. Japan’s high speed trains (bullet trains) are called shinkansen and are operated by the JR (Japan Railways).
