Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing seems to be a really bad way to travel but I do agree that you should be able to learn a lot about another culture through it and save lots of money.

Couch Surfers are a network of people who are willing to open up their homes and hearts to frugal travelers, as well as be those travelers when they are not hosting guests. The site prides itself on referrals and having only high quality members, and has a comprehensive program in place to ensure the safety of both traveler and host. But as with any chance to stay at a stranger’s place for free, a prudent amount of caution should be exercised.

Kevin Fitzsimons has recognized my personal weakness for Airstreams and sent MoCo Loco his MObi project, a restoration and modernization of a 1978 Sovereign 31’ Airstream Land Yacht. “Designed for today’s wealthy traveler, MObi will encompass the latest in available smart technology, be completely green and loaded with creature comforts.”.

Great Pics of Jamaica

Here’s some great photos of Jamaica, where one of my best friends just got back from vacation. Apparently, you can buy ounces of the good green stuff on the cheap everywhere in Jamaica, way cool.

The sea-surrounded pavilion at Jamaica’s Half Moon resort is often reached by moonlit stroll. This luxurious property east of Montego Bay, hideaway for royalty and celebrities, has a renowned golf course, equestrian center, 54 swimming pools, fancy spa, and multiple restaurants. Yet it has long had a reputation for environmental awareness and was a likely subject for Traveler’s October 2008 feature, “Jamaica Gently,” in which writer Mel White sets out to enjoy a beach vacation while following the 50 tips in Traveler’s “Ultimate Guide to Sustainable Travel.”

Trans-Siberian Railway Map

Many a traveler has the ambition of crossing Russia on the Trans-Siberian railway. After devouring Paul Theroux’s railway travelogues and then falling in love with a glossy hardcover version of a TV series called Red Express, I knew that the week-long trip from Vladivostok to Moscow was the ultimate journey for me.
