Machu Picchu (Quechua: Machu Picchu, “Old mountain”) is a pre-Columbian Inca site located 2,400 meters (7,875 ft) above sea level[1]. It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru, which is 80 km (50 mi) northwest of Cusco. Often referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas”, Machu Picchu is probably the most familiar symbol of the Inca Empire.
It was built around the year 1450, but abandoned a hundred years later, at the time of the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. Forgotten for centuries, the site was brought to worldwide attention in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, an American historian. Since then, Machu Picchu has become an important tourist attraction. It has recently come to light that the site may have been discovered and raided several years previously, in 1867 by a German businessman, Augusto Berns.[2] It was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. It is also one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Here’s a cool video of Meteora, Greece.
The Metéora (Greek: Μετέωρα, “suspended rocks”, “suspended in the air” or “in the heavens above”) is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Kalambaka, Greece and is second only to Mount Athos.[1] The monasteries are built on natural sandstone rock pillars, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Peneios river and Pindus Mountains, in central Greece. The Metéora is home to six monasteries and is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Metéora’s criteria [2] for the UNESCO World Heritage Site are I, II, IV, V and VII.

Pratunam Market, Bangkok, Thailand
2 Comments Published by max July 8th, 2008 in Travel Asia, Travel Info, Travel Thailand.
One of the tourists and local favorites in Bangkok is the Pratunam market. Make sure to check it out and try out all the great food and shopping there.
In the heart of the city, the market is easily accessible from Ratchaprarop Road, close to Indra Regent Hotel. Walk along the road until you spot a dusty ‘Pratunam Market’ sign. Step into any of the small lanes and you are in the middle of a clothes-maze. Lanes bisect each other at random, and all look the same with clothes hanging from every available space. If you become disoriented, don’t worry; continue walking and eventually you will walk out of the market. Tiny stalls and even tinier shops are crushed together on both sides displaying everything from T-shirts to formal evening wear, from beach wear to winter jackets, children’s clothes and even bizarre outfits.
