U.S. to Allow AIDS/HIV Positive Travelers
Published by max July 19th, 2008 in Travel Info.In recent news, U.S. might start allowing AIDS and HIV positive travelers, which has been banned since 1987. I think this is a bad idea as there’s no guarantee that the AIDS/HIV traveler will reveal that he/she has HIV.
What if a 20 year old went to a party and slept with one of those travelers? Now, what if that 20 year old didn’t know he got HIV until 3 years later while he slept with 20 other women. That’d be serious spread of HIV.
Although I do condone with HIV positive people, there’s no guarantee that they will in good faith not sleep with another person.
The US is one of only a dozen countries - including Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Russia - that ban travel and immigration for HIV-positive people.
America’s travel ban has been in force since 1987.
The provision lifting the ban was part of a bill granting some $50bn in funding for the fight against HIV/Aids throughout the world.
